PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Alloy 422 is a hardenable stainless steel designed for use at temperatures of up to 645 ºC). Alloy 422 has good resistance to scaling and oxidation. Through heat treatment, high mechanical properties can be reached well. Alloy 422 is used in applications such as compressors or steam turbines and also in aircraft parts, valves, high temperature bolting etc.
The alloy is usually produced by BEF + AOD / EAF + VD + LF followed by electroslag refining (ESR) / VAR if necessary for special purpose.
Bars and, where applicable, forgings are subjected to ultrasonic examination based on the different levels according to the buyers' requirements.
Bars are usually supplied black/bright in the annealed condition.
Final heat treatment - quenchedn and tempered + stress relieved
