ASTM A565 type 616 is a martensitic stainless steel with 12% Chromium - 1.0% Tungsten - 1.0% molydbenum iron base heat treated martensitic stainless steel.
Alloy 616 is a hardenable stainless steel designed for use at temperatures of up to 649ºC, it has good resistance to scaling and oxidation. Through normal heat treatment, high mechanical properties can be achieved. 616 alloy steel is widely used in applications - compressors or steam turbines and also in aircraft parts, valves, high temperature bolting.
